Our team has a combined total nearly 80 years of professional work experience with nearly half devoted to the sales profession. As a team, Eric and Tom have listed/sold over $130,000,000 of lake area real estate property during our sales careers. We have been consistent award winning agents, recognized by Waterfront Properties, the Prudential Real Estate Network, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Smith Mountain Lake Real Estate and the Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors. Tom won the Realtor Rookie Award in 2002, Gold Awards in 2002 and 2003, and a team Diamond Awards with his son, Eric, in 2004 and 2005. In addition, our team was recognized by Prudential with a Chairman’s Circle Award in 2005, President’s Circle Award in 2010 and 2012, and Leading Edge Society in 2006, 2009, 2011 and 2013.
Effective April 2014, Prudential Waterfront Properties became Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Smith Mountain Lake Real Estate in order to better meet the changing needs of our clients, and Team Fansler was awarded the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chairman’s Circle-Gold award for 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chairman’s Circle-Gold awards are prestigious and only achieved by the top 2% of agents nationally.
Prior to joining Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Smith Mountain Lake Real Estate, Eric was a top-producing sales associate and awarded Salesman of the Year at a leading, regional office furniture dealership in Richmond, Virginia. His job involved meeting the needs of a diverse customer base through effective space planning, selling, budgeting, problem solving, and logistical coordination. Since joining Prudential Waterfront Properties in 2004, Eric has earned both the Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) and national Prudential Fine Homes International Specialist designations. He has recently been recognized as a Luxury Home Collection Specialist by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices. Eric graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, and earned a B.S. degree in Management with a minor in Geography. Eric is a proud resident of The Waterfront Country Club community with his wife, Andrea, and their youngest son.
Tom has over 50 years of professional work experience and joined Prudential Waterfront Properties in January 2002. Prior to entering real estate sales, Tom had successful corporate engineering career in design and construction of facilities worldwide working for DuPont and Allied Signal/Honeywell. He graduated from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, with undergraduate and graduate degrees in chemical engineering. During his real estate career, Tom has earned the Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI), Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR) and national Prudential Fine Homes International Specialist designations. He has also recently been recognized as a Luxury Home Collection Specialist by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices. Tom is a member of the Smith Mountain Lake Chamber/Partnership, Smith Mountain Lake Association, Smith Mountain Lake Lions Club and past treasurer of the SML Lions Scholarship Trust.
Tom and Eric have also coordinated the design and construction of eight single-family homes in the lake area. Tom and his wife, Barbara, live on Smith Mountain Lake near Bernard’s Landing and have three grown sons as well as four grandchildren.
